Staff Spotlight: James Dream
Growing up, James collected “weird pictures and strange items,” for no specific purpose other than their strong inspirational force. From a young age, he has been interested in the outsider/peculiar perspective.
Serendipity brought him to the Eye’s Gallery, a haven for the beautiful, elegant, and peculiar.
“As a display artist, it is sometimes a challenge to make something that is accessible to people and not necessarily too museum-like,” he says. “There is a trick to making someone want to touch, pick up, or take something off of the wall.” James tries to strike a balance between the cultures and histories of individual objects and the allure of creating whimsical, colorful and fully integrated displays. He strives to allow a customer the freedom to feel a sense of passion about an object, so that they think, “I need to have this in my life.”
In his time away from Eyes, James is a man of vision, a musician and visual artist. You can check out all of his talents at jamesdream.tumblr.com. For his musical works, go to sound cloud.com/fleshprince.
